Janet Ginzberg has worked to address barriers to employment, including criminal records, at the Employment Law Unit of CLS since 1999. She advocates and litigates on behalf of people who are unlawfully denied or terminated from jobs because of arrest records or convictions. Ginzberg has assisted hundreds of people in preparing expungement petitions and represented them before the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and has appeared numerous times before the Board of Pardons. She was also a member of the team of attorneys who successfully challenged on state constitutional grounds the lifetime criminal records ban in the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
