Overview Description

Records relating to a child must be sealed when the child reaches 21 years of age. Nev. Rev. Stat. § 62H.140.

Ineligible Category or Citation

Sexual offenses are not eligible for sealing under this section. Nev. Rev. Stat. § 62H.110(3). Records relating to a traffic offense that would have been a misdemeanor if committed by an adult are not eligible for sealing. Nev. Rev. Stat. § 62H.110(4).

The procedure is automatic.

Fees

There are no statutory language regarding fees.

Effect

The order can seal any records relating to a child who has been taken before a probation officer, a child who appeared before the juvenile court, and the records of a child's arrest. Nev. Rev. Stat. § 62H.100.

Upon the records being sealed, all proceedings recounted in the records are deemed never to have occurred and the person can reply accordingly to any inquiry concerning the record. Nev. Rev. Stat. § 62H.170(1).

Waiting Periods

The records are sealed automatically when the child reaches age 21.
