Overview Description

Records relating to a misdemeanor conviction—for an offense other than a status offense—can be expunged by the court five years after sentence completion. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501(a)(1).

Ineligible Category or Citation

Misdemeanors that involved the use or attempted use of a firearm are ineligible for expungement. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501(a)(iii).

Procedure General

The petition must be filed in the court in which the conviction occurred. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501(a). For the specific procedure, see Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501.

A person is eligible to receive only one expungement of records of conviction under this section. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501(k).


There is a $100 filing fee. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1501(b).


Expungement means classifying the record to ensure it will not be available for dissemination other than to criminal justice agencies to be used for criminal justice purposes. Wyo. Stat. § 7-13-1401(j)(ii).

Waiting Periods

The petition can be filed five years after sentence completion.
